Introduction TPC

The Teacher Proficiency Course is the highest of the 3 in-service courses at The Anglo, leading to full professional competence in ELT. It is aimed at experienced professionals who want to extend their knowledge and skills in a range of key ELT areas in order to move up to the next level in their career path and become a senior teacher, materials developer, coordinator or teacher trainer, among other roles.

Aims of the programme

By the end of the programme, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of current developments in ELT that will enable them to become competent practitioners with a high level of performance in areas such as: research, teaching principles, materials and course design, testing and evaluation, teacher training and ELT management.  of input sessions and 80 hours of individual research.

Course content

  • Introductory Module: Research Methods in ELT and Academic Writing Skills.
  • Module 1: Principles and Practice of ELT.
  • Module 2: Materials and Course Design.
  • Module 3: ELT Management.
  • Module 4: Teacher Training and Development.
  • Module 5: Testing and Evaluation.

Course structure
The course lasts for 180 hours and is split into 100 hours of input sessions and 80 hours of individual research.

Selection and registration

Candidates must:

  • Be practising teachers.
  • Have a solid level of English equivalent to Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE).
  • Be recommended by the school where they work.

Candidates must sign a learning contract and be interviewed by the TPC Course Director.
